Fire (I'm sure brimstone was involved)
So I have been reading the book of Luke since my favorite “not-my-pastor-guy” Mark Driscoll has been leading his church through the book of Luke. Our church has been doing a non-expositorial series, so I generally pick a series that is expositorial and stick with it as well as [...]
So, I basically live in two worlds, and I have to admit that it’s kinda nice. The first world is that of Parker, CO. Because Parker is a haven for “Young and Rich”, and you can tell. Every single time I drive by the drive-thru Fivebucks there is a line of cars at [...]
Wow. I had no idea how impactful listening to these videos today was on me. My mind is spinning with information overload. There are so many good points to be made from these videos. SO MANY. I have embedded the hitlist from what I felt was the most impactful at least [...]
Rick McKinley @ Imago Dei – Are you being honest with us? Are you being honest with the people you lead about what your struggles are. Rick Struggles with Food. Jesus transforms us, it’s not a one time moment kinda thing, but a continual thing. Being vulnerable is so hard to do as [...]
Judd Wilheight – You need to develop character and the little things in your life. An Iceberg didn’t sink the titanic – faulty rivets did. We go about our lives and the more success we see, the more we have to manage your little details. When this happens the events are more likely [...]
Jenni Catron – We have shrunk Jesus to the size that he can save our soul, but we don’t believe he can change the world. She went to Africa and felt that she needed to change something in Africa. “Don’t fail to do something because you can’t do everything”. [Convicting... ouch] If American Christians gave [...]
Lead Pastor @ Flat Irons Church [Woo Hoo for Colorado!]- Sometimes you pray for things to change over and over and the answer is just “NO”. Sometimes life sucks at the pastors house too. People have to feel like they belong before they believe.
Neil Cohl – Author of Organic Church – Jesus who created the universe [...]
Margaret Feinberg: Thanks to church leaders when no one else seems to notice. [Ditto]. How does a Shepherd read John 10. How does a beekeeper read a land with overflowing milk and honey. Asking people to whom the scripture was referring to might enlighten it. Both a commercial and boutique vintner [...]
Craig Groeschel of lifechurch.tv – create deeper climate and culture of innovation. The church’s values should remain a constant, but the culture should shift to be relevant
Len Sweet – Statue of David by Michaelangelo, David had a HUGE head: How do you deal with “Big Head” syndrome?. A broken and contrite heart is the [...]
Dino Rizzo – We must know Christ in our private world – Marriage, friendships, and THEN in ministry. Small acts of kindness go a LONG way. Going out of your way a LITTLE means MUCH to others.
Keld from Finnland / Copenhagen – Know the people you are reaching out to – What is their history. [...]
Perry Noble – New Springs Church:
“You can’t plan a movement of God, because it’s God’s church. BTW – He cares about his church way more than you (those of us in places of leadership) do”.
Skye Jethani – “The Daisy Cutter Doctrine” – Just because we as followers of Jesus listen to people from ginormous churches [...]

I sent an email [a couple of times actually] on the last webhost, but it never made it into many peoples inbox. So I’m posting the guts here. Not really for history’s sake, or for the purpose of gaining more support. But simply because maybe someone who desperately needs help and support will [...]
So, I’m sure this is almost universal after taking a vacation, but I had a really tough time undigging my self today at work. A lot more than usual after a vacation.
Though it’s almost universally known to everyone with an email account who’s talked to my wife in the last year or two, I figured [...]
(editorial comment – this post is being written in the van on the way back from TX – it may show up today [Saturday] or tomorrow[Sunday] because I’m running out of batteries.)
We started out our last day of gutting with three houses. The first house was a fairly simple sounding job “Gutting garage of drywall [...]
Today was a day wrought with mud, oil, and mold.
I started out the day in the house we were at yesterday in the pit / garage. 1.5 (ish) inches of mud that we had to shovel out. Apparently my boots couldn’t really cope with the suction of the mud and we had wardrobe malfunction. [...]
Today’s Mold fest was different than yesterday. We went to two houses. The first one was owned by a gal named Anna. She needed her Drywall chopped out because it was wet. With live wires behind it.
Live, Hanging Wires… Oh yeah
It was nearly an electrifying situation…
But mainly the biggest “thing” about [...]
Day three is off to an interesting start. I am somehow not super sore like I thought I might be. I’m amazed at how God has replenished my strength. The foot is good.
Off to [...]
So it has been a little over 8 weeks since Ike hit TX. And there are still boats in the street. I can’t even fathom what it must have looked like nearly two months ago…
Boat #1 We saw…
Boat #1 We saw…
We gutted a house today for a lady named Ninfa today. [...]
Today I finished out the night with a service held in the church here by a church called Ecclesia Clear Lake. The sermon was on the deliniation between the sacred and secular. The main thrust of the sermon was that there really shouldn’t be a difference between sacred and secular because there is nothing [...]
