One thing I love about the collaborative blogger community is finding out cool stuff that you’d have to wade through promo emails to find out. One such example was the release of Phil Wickham’s singalong Live CD. I love Phil Wickham’s music, but somehow haven’t gotten around to picking up an album of his (so many albums – so little time). This has to be one of the rarities in a live album that I really like how it’s done. They make up an amazing

In general – I tend to avoid live albums. A few exceptions to this rule are in the forfront of my mind – Garth Brook’s Live in NY, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at Luther College, Eric Clapton Unplugged. But generally all live albums suffer from “Not quite as good as the studio, not quite as good as being there” syndrome.

The reason I think this album doesn’t is because it’s almost like he recorded a set in the middle of a bunch of friends and did a toned down almost-acoustic version of the songs. Phil Wickham has a wonderful voice – ala Shane and Shane and Mat Kearney with a unique falsetto that makes his voice hard to mistake for anyone else. In all – it’s free music – so if you even remotely like Phil Wickham, why not download it??

    • Phil is INCREDIBLE! Singalong is a worship experience that’s INCREDIBLE! However, I do love live CDs and sometimes more than the studio. Heaven and Earth is a progressive step from previous releases and quite different from Cannons but no less yummy goodness!
